The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman: Chey Tae-won, Business Registration Number: 104-82-03590, hereinafter referred to as the "KCCI") operates the APEC CEO Summit Korea 2025 Website. All personal information handled by the Website is collected, retained, processed, and deleted in accordance with applicable laws or within the consent of the data subjects. In addition, this Privacy Policy is established to protect the personal information and rights of data subjects and to promptly and smoothly handle any complaints related hereto.

Article 1 (Purpose of Personal Information Processing)

  1. The KCCI processes personal information for the following purposes. The personal information being processed shall not be used for any purposes other than those specified below. If the purposes of use are changed, the KCCI shall take necessary measures, such as obtaining separate consent in accordance with Article 18 of the Personal Information Protection Act.
    1. Provision of Services
      - Personal information is processed for purposes such as identifying individuals and participating companies for the use of services provided by the KCCI, handling matters related to the "Mailing Service Application," providing various notices and event information, and managing statistical information (including statistics and analysis of usage records).
    2. Registration and Disclosure of Personal Information Files
      - In accordance with Article 32 of the Personal Information Protection Act, the purposes of processing, retention periods, and items of personal information files registered and disclosed are as follows.

    3. Security Purposes
      - In accordance with Article 35(2) of the Enforcement Decree of the Presidential Security Act, certain personal information may be processed for security purposes to ensure the safe management and operation of the event.

Article 2 (Processing and Retention Period of Personal Information)

  1. The KCCI processes personal information within the period permitted by applicable laws or within the retention and use period agreed to by the data subject at the time of collection.
  2. The processing and retention periods for each category of personal information are as follows:
    1. Operation of the CEO Summit event and provision of services: Until withdrawal of consent or completion of the event.
    2. However, in the following cases, personal information shall be retained until the relevant circumstance is resolved:
      1. If an investigation or inquiry related to a violation of applicable laws is ongoing: Until the conclusion of the investigation or inquiry.
      2. If any debts or claims arising from the use of the Website remain: Until the settlement of such debts or claims.
      3. Statistical information: Until three (3) months after the preparation of statistics.
      4. Promotional email information: Until twelve (12) months after the sending of the promotional email.

Article 3 (Entrustment of Personal Information Processing)

  1. The KCCI entrusts the processing of personal information to third parties as follows in order to ensure the efficient handling of personal information tasks.
  2. When entering into an entrustment agreement, the KCCI specifies, in contracts or other documents, matters concerning the prohibition of personal information processing for purposes other than the performance of the entrusted tasks, the implementation of technical and managerial protection measures, restrictions on re-entrustment, management and supervision of the trustee, and liability for damages, in accordance with Article 26 of the Personal Information Protection Act. The KCCI also supervises the trustee to ensure that personal information is processed safely.
  3. In the event of any changes to the details of the entrusted tasks or the trustee, the KCCI shall promptly disclose such changes through this Privacy Policy.

Article 4 (Rights and Obligations of Data Subjects and Their Legal Representatives, and Methods of Exercise)

  1. A data subject (or, in the case of a person under the age of 14, their legal representative) may exercise the following rights related to personal information protection against the KCCI at any time.
    1. Request to access personal information
    2. Request to correct errors, if any
    3. Request to delete personal information
    4. Request to suspend processing of personal information
  2. The rights set forth in Paragraph 1 may be exercised through written documents, telephone, email, fax, or other means. The KCCI shall take prompt action in response to such requests.
  3. Where a data subject requests the correction or deletion of personal information due to errors or other reasons, the KCCI shall not use or provide the relevant personal information until the correction or deletion is completed.
  4. The rights set forth in Paragraph 1 may also be exercised through a legal representative of the data subject or an authorized agent. In such cases, a power of attorney in the form prescribed in Annex Form No. 11 of the Notification on Personal Information Processing Methods must be submitted.
  5. Requests to access or suspend the processing of personal information may be restricted pursuant to Article 35(4) and Article 37(2) of the Personal Information Protection Act.
  6. Requests for the correction or deletion of personal information may not be granted if the collection of such personal information is explicitly required by other applicable laws.
  7. When a data subject exercises the right to request access, correction, deletion, or suspension of processing, the KCCI shall verify whether the requesting party is the data subject or a duly authorized representative.
  8. Users are encouraged to provide and maintain accurate and up-to-date personal information in order to prevent unforeseen accidents.
  9. Users have not only the right to have their personal information protected but also the obligation to protect themselves and not to infringe upon the personal information of others. Users must take care to prevent the leakage of their own personal information and must not damage or infringe upon the personal information of others, including information contained in postings. If a user fails to fulfil these responsibilities and subsequently infringes upon the personal information or dignity of others, the user may be subject to penalties under applicable laws and regulations.

Article 5 (Items of Personal Information Processed)

  1. The KCCI collects the following items of personal information.

  2. The KCCI uses personal information for the following purposes:
    1. Identification of individuals and organizations for service use
    2. Delivery of various notifications and event-related information, including handling of "mailing service subscriptions"
    3. Management of statistical data (usage records and analysis)
  3. The KCCI processes what it refers to as "unique identification information," defined by Article 24(1) of the Personal Information Protection Act and Article 19 of its Enforcement Decree, including resident registration numbers, passport numbers, driver's license numbers, and alien registration numbers, as follows:
    1. Collection and use of such information required for compliance in transaction and payment services
    2. Collection and use for security purposes in accordance with Article 35(2) of the Enforcement Decree of the Presidential Security Act.

Article 6 (Destruction of Personal Information)

  1. The KCCI shall promptly destroy personal information without delay when the retention period has expired, the purpose of processing has been achieved, or the personal information otherwise becomes unnecessary. However, if the continued preservation of personal information is required by other applicable laws, such personal information shall be stored separately in a different database (DB) or preserved in a different storage location.
  2. The procedures and methods for the destruction of personal information are as follows.
    1. Destruction of Personal Information: Personal information whose retention period has expired shall be destroyed without delay from the end date.
    2. Destruction of Personal Information Files: When the purpose of processing has been achieved, the relevant service is discontinued, or the business is terminated, and the personal information file becomes unnecessary, the file shall be destroyed without delay from the date it is recognized that processing is no longer required.
    3. Destruction Procedures: The KCCI selects the personal information subject to destruction upon the occurrence of a destruction reason and destroys it with the approval of the person in charge of personal information protection for each relevant sector.
    4. Destruction Methods: Personal information recorded and stored in electronic file format shall be destroyed in a manner that renders the records irrecoverable, and personal information recorded and stored in paper documents shall be shredded or incinerated.

Article 7 (Measures to Ensure the Security of Personal Information)

  1. The KCCI implements the following measures to ensure the security of personal information.
    1. Administrative Measures: Establishment and implementation of internal management plans, and regular training of employees.
    2. Technical Measures: Management of access rights to personal information processing systems, encryption including the installation of access control systems and similar measures, and installation of security programs.

Article 8 (Installation, Operation, and Rejection of Automatic Personal Information Collection Devices)

  1. The KCCI may install and operate cookies to store user information and retrieve it periodically in order to provide individual services and convenience to users.
  2. Data subjects can configure their web browser settings to allow or block cookies. However, refusing to store cookies may result in difficulties in using personalized services.

Consent to the Collection and Use of Personal Information

The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (hereinafter referred to as "KCCI"), the operator of the APEC CEO Summit Korea 2025 website, will not use personal information for any purpose other than the following. In the event of a change in the purpose of use, the KCCI will obtain the data subject's consent before processing the information.

  1. Purpose of Collection and Use of Personal Information
    - Operation of the CEO Summit event and provision of services: Identification of individuals and companies, processing of "mailing service application," provision of various announcements and related event information, and management of statistical information (usage records statistics and analysis). - Security and safety management during the event operation

    1. Where an investigation or inquiry related to a violation of applicable laws is ongoing, the personal information shall be retained until the conclusion of such investigation or inquiry.
    2. Where any outstanding debts or claims arising from the use of the Website remain, the personal information shall be retained until the settlement of such debts or claims.
    3. Statistical information: Retained for a period of up to three (3) months following the preparation of the statistics.
    4. Promotional email information: Retained for a period of up to twelve (12) months following the dispatch of the promotional email.
  4. Right to Refuse and Consequences
    The data subject has the right to refuse consent to the collection and use of personal information as outlined above. However, if the data subject refuses consent to the collection and use of required personal information, access to the services, including participation in the event and related supplementary program, may be restricted.

Chapter 1 General Provisions

Article 1 (Purpose)

The purpose of these Terms of Use is to set forth the terms and conditions, procedures for use, rights and obligations of users and the APEC CEO Summit Korea 2025 website (hereinafter referred to as the “Website”), responsibilities and other necessary matters with respect to all services provided through the Website (hereinafter referred to as the “Services”) by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (hereinafter referred to as the “KCCI”) and the Website.

Article 2 (Definition)

  1. The term “User” means as individual, organization, public institution, or corporation that has agreed to these Terms of Use and completed membership registration to access the Services.
  2. The term “Password” means a combination of letters and numbers set by the User to verify the User’s identity corresponding to the registered email address and to protect the User’s personal information.
  3. The term “Event” refers to the APEC CEO Summit Korea 2025 as defined in these Terms of Use, including all related ancillary events, programs, and services.
  4. The term “Withdrawal” means an act by which a User cancels or terminates the service use agreement.
  5. Any terms not defined herein shall be governed by applicable laws and regulations, as well as the terms of use and rules of each respective Service.

Article 3 (Effectiveness and Amendment of the Terms)

  1. These Terms of Use shall take effect upon being posted on the Website or by other means of notification. Upon a User’s agreement to these Terms, these Terms shall take precedence over any other terms with respect to the provision of Services by the Website and the User’s use of the Services.
  2. The KCCI may amend these Terms of Use to the extent that such amendment does not violate applicable laws and regulations.
  3. In the event that the KCCI amends these Terms of Use, it shall specify the effective date and the reason for the amendment and shall post the amended Terms together with the current Terms in accordance with Paragraph 1, from 30 days prior to the effective date until the day before the effective date. However, if the amendment is disadvantageous to the User, the KCCI shall additionally provide clear notice to the User through electronic means, such as email or a consent window upon login, within a specified period.
  4. If, after the KCCI has clearly notified or announced pursuant to the preceding paragraph that a failure to express an opinion within a 30-day period will be deemed as consent, the User does not explicitly express an intention to reject the amended Terms, the User shall be deemed to have agreed to the amended Terms.
  5. In the event that the KCCI amends these Terms of Use, the amended Terms shall also apply to Users who registered prior to the amendment, provided that the amended Terms do not violate applicable laws and regulations.
  6. If a User does not agree to the application of the amended Terms, the KCCI shall not apply the amended Terms to that User, and the User may terminate the service use agreement. However, if there are special circumstances that prevent the continued application of the previous Terms, the KCCI may terminate the service use agreement.

Article 4 (Governing Rules Outside of These Terms)

These Terms of Use shall apply to the use of Services Provided by the KCCI. Any matters not specified herein shall be governed by applicable laws and regulations and the terms of use or guidelines for each individual Service.

Chapter 2 Provision and Use of Services

Article 5 (Formation of the Service Use Agreement)

  1. A person who wishes to use the Services shall be deemed to have agreed to these Terms of Use by clicking the “Agree” button on the Website after reading these Terms.
  2. A User’s application for membership pursuant to these Terms shall be deemed as agreement to the KCCI’s announced policies, including the “Privacy Policy”, the “Copyright Policy,” and other applicable policies.

Article 6 (Suspension of Services)

  1. The KCCI may restrict or suspend all or part of the Services if it is unable to provide the Services normally due to a national emergency, power outage, failure of service facilities, excessive use of the Services, or other unavoidable business reasons.
  2. In the event of circumstances under Paragraph 1, the KCCI shall not be liable for any deletion or loss of postings or other content stored or transmitted on the Website.

Article 7 (Restriction on Use of Services)

  1. If the information provided by a User is found be false, or if there are reasonable grounds to suspect that it is false, the Website may suspend all or part of the User’s access to the Services, and shall not be liable for any disadvantages or damages arising therefrom.
  2. If a User engages in conduct that violates Article 14 (Obligations of Users) or any other provisions of these Terms of Use, the Website may, at its sole discretion, restrict or suspend the User’s use of the Services. In such cases, the Website may also block the User’s access.

Article 8 (Withdrawal and Loss of User Qualification)

  1. A User may request the KCCI to deregister their account, and upon such request, the KCCI shall promptly initiate the procedures to deregister the User.
  2. . If a User engages in conduct that violates Article 14 (Obligations of Users) or any other provisions of these Terms of Use, the KCCI may, through appropriate measures, revoke the User’s qualification.

Chapter 3 Protection of Information and Management of Postings

Article 9 (Obligations to Protect Personal Information)

  1. The KCCI shall endeavor to protect User’s personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act and other applicable laws and regulations. The protection and use of personal information shall be governed by applicable laws and the Website’s Privacy Policy.
  2. However, with the User’s consent, the Website may link to external sites for the provision of event information, payment of participation fees, and applications and payments for accommodation, transportation, and ancillary programs, as well as to government agency information sites in accordance with applicable laws.

Article 10 (User Information Security)

  1. From the moment the User completes the registration process on the Website, the User shall be responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the information provided.
  2. The User shall be solely responsible for the management of their registered email address and password. If the User becomes aware that their registered email address or password has been used improperly, the User must immediately report it to the KCCI. The User shall bear full responsibility for any consequences resulting from a failure to report such improper use.
  3. When the User finishes using the Website, the User must properly log out. The KCCI shall not be liable for any damages or losses arising from a third party’s use of the User’s information due to the User’s failure to properly log out.

Article 11 (Provision of Information and Display of Promotional Materials)

  1. In the course of operating the Services, the Website may provide Users with various types of information by posting it on the Website, sending it via email, postal mail, or by other means.
  2. The Website may display promotional materials, including advertisements from sponsors, that it deems appropriate for the Services or that are deemed to serve the public interest.

Article 12 (Management and Operation of Website Postings)

  1. The rights to the content posted by Users shall belong to the User who posted it, and the KCCI shall not use such content for commercial purposes.
  2. With respect to postings for which the User holds copyright, the KCCI may use such postings for non-commercial purposes and may freely use them within websites operated by the KCCI, regardless of whether the use is for commercial purposes. By agreeing to these Terms, the User shall be deemed to have granted to the KCCI the copyrights and intellectual property rights necessary for such use, and such grant shall remain effective even after the User’s withdrawal.
  3. If the KCCI intends to use postings for which the User holds copyright for commercial purposes in a manner other than as set forth in Paragraph 2, it must obtain the User’s prior consent through means such as telephone, fax, or email.
  4. The Website reserves the right to edit or relocate posted content without prior notice and may delete content without prior notice in the following cases:
    1. Where the content is deemed obscene or vulgar;
    2. Where the content contains abusive language, verbal violence, serious insults, or defamation against other Users or third parties;
    3. Where the content arouses disgust or fear;
    4. Where the content violates public order or good morals;
    5. Where the content involves discrimination or disparagement based on political opinions, race, gender, region, or religion;
    6. Where the content involves the collection, storage, or disclosure of another User’s personal information;
    7. Where the content includes materials containing viruses, corrupted files, or other similar software or programs that may damage another person’s computer;
    8. Where the content consists of spam, advertisements, promotions or other commercial materials for profit-making purposes;
    9. Where the reference information inserted in a post (such as URLs) is unrelated to the main content;
    10. Where the content infringes copyrights or other intellectual property rights;
    11. Where a User monopolizes the use of the Website in a manner that causes inconvenience to other Users (e.g., excessive posting, repeated posting of identical or similar content);
    12. Where the User disseminates false information, thereby interfering with the business activities of the KCCI or damaging its reputation, including by negatively portraying the Services provided by the Website.
  5. The Website may delete postings if a significant period of time has passed since their publication, causing them to lose their effectiveness as postings or making their purpose unclear.
  6. The User who posted the content shall bear full civil and criminal liability for any infringement or third-party copyrights arising from their postings.

Chapter 4 Duties and Responsibilities

Article 13 (Obligations of the KCCI)

  1. The KCCI shall not engage in any acts prohibited by applicable laws, these Terms of Use, or acts contrary to public order and good morals through the Website, and shall have the obligation to endeavor to provide continuous and stable Services.
  2. The KCCI shall not disclose or distribute a User’s personal information to any third party without the User’s consent through the Website. However, this shall not apply in cases where disclosure is made to subcontractors for the efficient handling of personal information related to the Event, or where disclosure is required by national authorities, administrative agencies, or under applicable laws and regulations.
  3. The KCCI shall establish a security system to protect Users’ personal information in order to ensure that Users can safely use the Services through the Website.

Article 14 (Obligations of Users)

  1. Users shall comply with the provisions of these Terms of Use, all regulations and notices established by the KCCI, the Copyright Act, the Personal Information Protection Act, and other applicable laws and regulations.
  2. Users must accurately provide the information required at the time of registration. Users shall also maintain and update their provided information to ensure its accuracy, and shall not allow any third party to use their registered email address or password on the Website.
  3. Users shall not engage in any profit-making activities using the Services without the prior consent of the Website.
  4. Users shall not, without the prior consent of the Website, copy, reproduce, modify, translate, publish, broadcast, or otherwise use any information obtained through the use of the Services, nor provide such information to any third party.
  5. In connection with the use of the Services, Users shall not engage in any of the following acts:
    1. Registering false information at the time of application or modification;
    2. Altering information posted by the KCCI;
    3. Transmitting or posting information (such as computer programs) other than the information designated by the KCCI;
    4. Infringing upon the copyrights or other intellectual property rights of the KCCI or any third party;
    5. Damaging the reputation of or interfering with the business activities of the KCCI or any third party;
    6. Disclosing or posting obscene or violent messages, images, sounds, or any other content that violates public order and good morals or publishing information that is false;
    7. Using the Services for profit without the consent of the KCCI;
    8. Engaging in any other illegal or improper acts.

Chapter 5 Miscellaneous

Article 15 (Ownership and Copyrights)

  1. All ownership rights, copyrights, intellectual property rights, and other rights related to the Services provided through the Website, as well as any associated software, images, marks, logos, designs, service names, information, and trademarks, shall belong to the KCCI.
  2. Except as expressly approved by the KCCI, Users shall not modify, lease, lend, sell, distribute, create, transfer, sublicense, establish security interests in, commercially exploit, or otherwise use all or any part of the properties set forth in Paragraph 1, nor shall they permit any third party to engage in such activities.
  3. Copyrights to postings created by Users shall belong to the respective Users, and the KCCI shall have the right to display such postings within the Services on the Website.
  4. During the Services and the Event, photographs and videos may be taken for promotional purposes. The KCCI shall hold the ownership rights, copyrights, intellectual property rights, and other rights to such materials, and may post or distribute them within the Website and Services.
  5. The User shall bear civil and criminal liability for any infringement of third-party copyrights arising from the User’s postings.

Article 16 (Prohibition of Assignment)

Users may not assign or transfer their rights to use the Services or their status under the service use agreement to any third party, nor may they offer them as collateral.

Article 17 (Cancellation and Refund)

  1. The cancellation of purchase and related matters for event tickets bought through the Website shall be governed by applicable laws, including Article 17 of the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, etc.
  2. Considering the nature of the event, tickets issued from 120 days prior to the event until the event start date are considered goods whose value has substantially decreased due to the elapse of time, making resale difficult or impossible.
  3. In the case of changes or cancellations of ancillary programs booked and paid for through the Website or linked sites, the refund policy of the respective travel agency shall apply.
  4. For refunds of services to which the cancellation and refund criteria cannot be applied, the relevant laws and the terms or policies separately notified by the KCCI or other service providers shall apply.

Article 18 (Disclaimer of Liability)

  1. The KCCI shall be exempt from liability for the provision of the Services if it is unable to provide the Event or Services due to natural disasters or other force majeure events, whether political or non-political.
  2. If the KCCI restricts or suspends the provision of the Services, or terminates a User’s registration due to the reasons set forth in Paragraph 1 of this Article, the KCCI shall not be liable for any damages incurred by the User as a result thereof.
  3. The KCCI shall not be liable for any damages arising from a User’s inaccurate provision of personal information, such as email addresses, or from the User’s failure to fulfill the obligation to update personal information as set forth in Article 14, Paragraph 2, nor shall it be liable for service disruptions caused by reasons attributable to the User.
  4. The KCCI has no obligation to intervene in disputes arising between Users or between a User and a third party in connection with the Services. The KCCI shall not be liable for any damages or mental distress suffered by a User or a third party resulting from a User’s intentional acts or negligence in connection with the use of the Services. However, if otherwise provided under applicable laws, such provisions shall apply.
  5. The KCCI shall be exempt from liability for any damages arising from the suspension or improper provision of telecommunications services by a common telecommunications carrier.
  6. The KCCI shall be exempt from liability for any damages arising from unavoidable circumstances such as maintenance, replacement, regular inspections, or construction related to service facilities.
  7. The KCCI shall not be liable for any benefits or profits that Users expect to obtain from the use of the Services.

Article 19 (Resolution of Disputes)

  1. The KCCI and Users shall make every effort to amicably resolve any disputes arising in connection with the Services.
  2. The KCCI shall respect complaints and opinions submitted by Users and shall endeavor to use them to provide better Services to Users.

Article 20 (Governing Law)

  1. All legal matters arising from disputes related to the use of the Services shall be governed by the relevant laws of the Republic of Korea.
  2. In the event of any litigation between the KCCI and a User arising in connection with the use of the Services, the court having jurisdiction over the location of the KCCI shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

Addendum

  1. These Terms of Use shall take effect as of May 1, 2025.
  2. The copyright to these Terms of Use belongs to the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), and any unauthorized reproduction, distribution, transmission, or other infringement of copyright is strictly prohibited.
